Bush Opposes Singing Anthem in Spanish

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush said Friday the national anthem should be sung in English - not Spanish - in a blunt rejection of a new Spanish-language version.

He also expressed opposition to a national work stoppage called for Monday to dramatize the importance of immigrants to the U.S. economy.

I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English

My mother, being born in a foreign country came to the United States legally. She never once forced the United States to adopt her language to speak with her. She did not force the Unted States to accommodate her because of her communication. She learned the language and became a US Citizen. There is no National Anthem in Dutch for immigrants. Except where I was born, my roots are almost 100% European.

They are jumping the line and agering alot of Americans. They proclaim they are above our laws. They have burned the American flag on American streets. They took down an American flag and put the Mexican flag up with the American flag hanging upside down underneath it. Hispanics that are citizens are 10% of the Minutemen on the Border.

They translate the national anthem and CHANGE the words. So if you are of any other race you do not have their rights to break the law. They are better than the rest of us.

This whole thing is going to back fire on them. Because now people who did not care about the issue is blasting Congress to do something.

I would like to see any american go to Mexico and try to do what they are trying to do to us. In California you get your bills in english and spanish. You go south and you do not get your bills in english. It is not right to go to another country and tell them what to do.
School kids do not like what they are told to do at school so they walk out. They are only doing what they see their elders do. What ever land you are in is what you do. This will only get worse. I am glad I am a born again christian. I would not trade what I have for anything.I love the Lord with all my hart.
