A flood was on its way, forcing everyone to evacuate. The police rowed up to the most pious woman in town and said, "Ma'am, you have to leave this house! People are dying out here!"

The woman replied, "No, I'm not leaving. God has always helped me before, and He will do it again."

So as the water started to rise, she went to the second story of her house. Another boat came by, and the captain yelled, "Ma'am, you have to get on this boat or you're going to drown!"

The woman replied again, "No, God helped me before, and He will do it again."

The water rose even higher. This time she went to the top of the roof, where a helicopter came and hovered overhead. The pilot called into his loudspeaker, "Please climb aboard, ma'am. You are going to drown!"

The women sniffed and again replied, "God is going to save me!"

But the water rose higher, and soon she drowned to death. She went to Heaven, and there she asked God, "Why didn't you save me, O Lord?"

And God replied, "I did help--I sent you two boats and a helicopter!"

...when God did answer your prayers.

God answers ALL prayers - we may just not understand or like how He answers them.

I don't traditionally think of this story as a joke, but ok. The version I heard ends;

"I sent you a warning, a boat, and a helicopter, what's the matter with you?"

Or something like that (working from memory). It's definitely a useful story, though. You can't put God into a box with how He answers your prayers; sometimes it's not what you're expecting or even what you originally asked for.

Never limit the unlimited. Perhaps this may have been the best category to put this in at the current time. I am considering creating a new forum just for things like this.

What is more of an amazing event? That God parts a sea or a natural event that just happens at the right time? This joke is about a simple thing that teaches a lesson we should all know.... We ask our Lord 2 things, primary for HIS will be done, and to guide us in this world......The women had Faith that God would answer her prayers.....she failed like I have a few times to recognize when God had indeed answered my prayers.

I asked my Lord God to teach me PATIENCE, He has answered, and I am still paying the price for that simple prayer.....:D I think I asked the Lord for that when I was 19....:razz

This is so very true. This is why it is important to always pray for God's will in any situation and not just for an answer to a prayer. God is always faithful and He alone knows what is best for us. :)

I think this might fit better under the new category: "Food For Thought".

Be care full how you pray. God answers our prayers. While waiting for the Dr. to set my arm, I prayed for it not to hurt when the Dr. pulled it to set it. God answered this and after boy did it hurt. Still does. I have a splint like cast on it now. I have to wait until may 25 to get a cast on it. It is telling me it is time to quit the pc.now.

God bless you all

Thank you Bluegirl777. The Lord wants me to slow down, that is what I get from this. He may have some other reason, I will find out when the time comes. I know he is teaching me some thing.
Well I need to go for now.

God bless you all
